Description

A delicious pizza topped with Italian sausage, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese, perfect for a quick meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 1 pre-made pizza crust (or homemade dough)
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Olive oil for brushing
  • Optional: Red pepper flakes for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sausage:
Remove the casing from the Italian sausage if necessary. In a skillet over medium heat, crumble and cook the sausage until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat. Set aside.
  2. Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  3. Prepare the Crust:
Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Place the dough on a pizza stone or baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Lightly brush the crust with olive oil.
  4. Assemble the Pizza:
Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the crust, leaving a border for the edge. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly on top of the sauce. Evenly distribute the cooked sausage crumbles over the cheese layer. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top. Add dried oregano and basil for extra flavor.
  5. Bake the Pizza:
Place the pizza in the preheated oven. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the crust is golden brown.
  6. Finish and Serve:
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly. Slice and serve hot, with optional red pepper flakes for added heat.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, pre-bake the crust for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
  • Experiment with additional toppings like mushrooms, bell peppers, or onions for variety.
  • For a smoky flavor, consider using smoked mozzarella or a smoked sausage variety.
  • Use a pizza stone for the best crust texture, ensuring it is preheated with the oven.
