Description

Delicious and fun monster chocolate chip cookies, perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Candy eyes for decoration
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips (optional)
  • Stuffed cookies (like Oreos) for the center

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients: Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Mix Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Combine: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Add Chocolate Chips: Stir in semi-sweet chocolate chips and white chocolate chips, if using.
  7. Form Cookies: Take a scoop of dough, flatten it slightly, place a stuffed cookie in the center, and wrap the dough around it. Ensure it is completely covered.
  8. Decorate with Candy Eyes: Place candy eyes on top of each cookie for decoration.
  9. Bake: Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  10. Cool: Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Make sure the butter is softened, not melted, for the best texture.
  • Chilling the dough for about 30 minutes before baking can prevent the cookies from spreading too much.
  • For a gooey center, don’t overbake the cookies; they will continue to cook on the baking sheet after being removed from the oven.
  • Feel free to experiment with different candies or nuts for variety.
