- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl; set aside.
- In another bowl, cream the softened butter with brown and granulated sugars until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing slowly after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined; avoid overmixing.
- Divide the batter in half and stir cocoa powder into one half until evenly mixed.
- Spoon alternating dollops of each batter into the prepared pan; swirl gently with a knife.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden edges form and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow cooling in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
Notes
- Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- For extra decadence, sprinkle chocolate chips on top before baking.
