Description

A delicious and warm treat perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 ½ tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 23 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Activate Yeast: In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk. Let it sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
  2. Prepare Dough: Add sugar, melted butter, salt, eggs, and flour to the yeast mixture. Mix well until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  3. Prepare Filling: In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon.
  4. Roll Out Dough: Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a 16×21-inch rectangle. Spread softened butter over the dough and sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  5. Form Rolls: Starting from a long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut into 12 rolls and place in a greased 9×13-inch baking pan.
  6. Second Rise: Cover and let the rolls rise again for 30 minutes until puffy.
  7. Bake: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Prepare Icing: In a medium bowl, mix powdered sugar, butter, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  9. Ice Rolls: Once the rolls are baked, let them cool slightly before spreading the icing over them.

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is not too hot when dissolving the yeast to avoid killing it.
  • If your dough is too sticky, add a little more flour, a tablespoon at a time.
  • For an extra gooey texture, you can add ½ cup of heavy cream over the rolls before baking.
  • The icing can be adjusted for sweetness and consistency by varying the milk and sugar amounts.
