Description

A deliciously crisp and savory-sweet take on a classic grilled cheese sandwich, featuring Brie cheese and raspberry jam.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
  • 8 ounces Brie cheese (sliced or spreadable)
  • 4 tablespoons raspberry jam (or your choice of berry jam)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional for extra crispiness)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread:

Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.

  2. Assemble the Sandwich:

Place the bread buttered side down on a clean cutting board. Spread approximately 2 ounces of Brie cheese on the unbuttered side of two slices. Spread 2 tablespoons of raspberry jam over the Brie cheese on each slice. Top each with another slice of bread, buttered side up, to form a sandwich.

  3. Cooking the Sandwiches:

Heat a nonstick skillet or cast-iron pan over medium heat. Add a splash of olive oil if desired for extra crispiness. Place the sandwiches in the pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the bread is golden brown and crispy. Carefully flip the sandwiches and continue cooking on the other side for an additional 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the bread is evenly toasted.

  4. Serve:

Remove the sandwiches from the pan and let them cool slightly. Slice each sandwich in half and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Cheese Options: Try substituting Brie with Camembert or Havarti for different flavor profiles.
  • Jam Varieties: Experiment with different jams like fig, apricot, or strawberry for a unique twist.
  • Bread Choices: Use other types of bread like multigrain or ciabatta for added texture.
  • Extra Fillings: Add fresh basil or arugula for a hint of freshness.
  • Perfect Heat: Maintain a medium heat to prevent the bread from burning while ensuring the cheese melts thoroughly.
