Ingredients
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 4 large egg yolks
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup crushed Oreo cookies
- Whole Oreo cookies for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Custard Base:
In a saucepan, combine heavy cream and whole milk. Heat over medium-low heat until the mixture is warm but not boiling.
- Blend with Egg Yolks:
In a separate bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar until smooth and pale. Slowly pour the warm cream mixture into the yolk mixture, whisking constantly to prevent the eggs from cooking.
- Cook the Custard:
Return the entire mixture to the saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the custard thickens and coats the back of a spoon (do not let it boil). Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Assemble the Dessert:
Divide the crushed Oreos equally into serving ramekins or bowls. Pour the warm custard over the crushed Oreos, filling each ramekin.
- Chill:
Cover the ramekins with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the custard is fully set.
- Garnish:
Before serving, top each custard with a whole Oreo cookie.
