Description

A deliciously creamy dessert featuring a rich custard mixed with crushed Oreo cookies.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup crushed Oreo cookies
  • Whole Oreo cookies for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Custard Base:

In a saucepan, combine heavy cream and whole milk. Heat over medium-low heat until the mixture is warm but not boiling.

  2. Blend with Egg Yolks:

In a separate bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar until smooth and pale. Slowly pour the warm cream mixture into the yolk mixture, whisking constantly to prevent the eggs from cooking.

  3. Cook the Custard:

Return the entire mixture to the saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the custard thickens and coats the back of a spoon (do not let it boil). Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. Assemble the Dessert:

Divide the crushed Oreos equally into serving ramekins or bowls. Pour the warm custard over the crushed Oreos, filling each ramekin.

  5. Chill:

Cover the ramekins with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the custard is fully set.

  6. Garnish:

Before serving, top each custard with a whole Oreo cookie.

Notes

  • Ensure constant stirring of the custard to avoid scrambling the eggs.
  • For a richer flavor, consider adding a touch of instant coffee granules to the custard base.
  • You can substitute vanilla extract with chocolate or almond extract for a flavor twist.
  • Make sure to refrigerate the dessert long enough for a smooth, creamy texture.
