Description

Enjoy your delightful churro ice cream bowls!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Ice cream (your choice of flavor)
  • Chocolate sauce (optional, for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the water, 2 tablespoons sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons oil. Bring to a boil.
    • Remove from heat and add the flour all at once. Stir until it forms a ball of dough.
    • Transfer the dough to a mixing bowl. Let it cool for a few minutes before adding the eggs.
    • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition. The dough should be smooth and thick.
  2. Form the Bowls:
    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Take a muffin tin and turn it upside down. Grease the outside of each cup.
    • Spoon the dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe the dough around the muffin cup in a spiral, starting from the bottom and moving upwards to form a bowl shape.
  3. Fry the Churro Bowls:
    • Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C).
    • Carefully remove the dough bowls from the muffin tin.
    • Fry the bowls in batches until they are golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes.
    • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Coat the Bowls:
    • In a shallow bowl, mix the 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon.
    • While the churro bowls are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated.
  5. Assemble the Dessert:
    • Fill each churro bowl with a scoop of ice cream.
    • Drizzle with chocolate sauce if desired.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil is at the correct temperature to avoid soggy churros.
  • You can prepare the churro bowls ahead and freeze them, then reheat in the oven before serving.
  • Experiment with different ice cream flavors for variety.
  • For extra crispiness, bake the churro bowls in the oven for 5 minutes after frying.
