Description

A delicious cherry syrup that can be used over pancakes, desserts, or in drinks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups cherries (190g, pitted, fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup white granulated sugar (200g)
  • ¾ cup water (180ml)

Instructions

  1. Remove the pits from the cherries with a knife or cherry pitter.
  2. Add all ingredients to a pot.
  3. Stir it together, bring to the boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes, until the cherries start to break down.
  4. Place a fine-mesh strainer over a bowl or jug and pour in the mixture. Press the cherries into the strainer to extract as much cherry syrup as possible.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool, then pour into a jar or bottle and keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
