Description

A delicious and hearty casserole with ground beef, cheddar cheese, and buttermilk biscuits.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (8 count) buttermilk biscuits
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the Beef Mixture: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute. Add the ground beef, cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary. Stir in tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Prepare the Casserole: Pour the beef mixture into a 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle 1 cup of cheddar cheese evenly over the beef mixture.
  4. Add Biscuits: Arrange the buttermilk biscuits evenly on top of the cheese layer. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the biscuits.
  5. Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Serve: Remove from oven and let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a dash of hot sauce or a pinch of red pepper flakes to the beef mixture.
  • Use a mix of cheeses, like mozzarella and cheddar, for a richer taste.
  • To make it more colorful, add chopped bell peppers or mushrooms to the beef mixture.
