Description
Delicious quesadillas combining the classic flavors of a cheeseburger with gooey cheese and crispy tortillas.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 large flour tortillas
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1/4 cup chopped pickles
- 1/4 cup chopped lettuce (optional)
- 1 tomato, thinly sliced (optional)
Instructions
- Sauté the aromatics: In a skillet over medium heat, warm the olive oil. Add the finely diced onion and cook for about 3 minutes until softened and translucent. The aroma will already start to feel like home.
- Brown the beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet with the onions. Break it apart with a wooden spoon and cook until browned—about 5–7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Season generously: Sprinkle in garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well to make sure every bite of beef is flavorful. Let it simmer for another 1–2 minutes to bring the spices to life.
- Make the special sauce: While the beef cooks, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard in a small bowl. This zesty, creamy sauce pulls everything together and gives your quesadilla its cheeseburger soul.
- Build your quesadillas: Lay out a tortilla and spread a layer of the sauce over one half. Add a generous spoonful of the seasoned beef, then sprinkle on both cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Add chopped pickles, tomato slices, or lettuce if desired. Fold the tortilla in half to close.
- Crisp it up: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Place the folded quesadilla in the skillet and cook for about 2–3 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until golden and crispy.
- Slice and serve: Transfer to a cutting board, slice into wedges, and serve hot. Each slice delivers that irresistible mix of cheesy pull and juicy beef you’d expect from a cheeseburger—but with a delightful crunch.
Notes
- For an extra crunchy texture, you can add more cheese inside the quesadilla.
- This recipe works well with various toppings like jalapeños or avocado.
